Last night, Saturday, February 16th 2013, I had the pleasure of being DJ and Master of Ceremonies for the wedding of Christina and Patrick Ward, in Ithaca, NY.
The wedding, with around 150 guests, had elegant dinner and cocktail hours, and turned into a serious party immediately following very poignant Father-Daughter & Mother-Son dances.
Pat & Christina LOVE House Music, Dubstep, Electronic music, 80's tunes, and Oldies. Their goal was to avoid most "Top-40" music.
With the exception of honoring a handful of VIP guest requests, the order of the night was Swedish House Mafia, Deadmau5, Miike Snow, Avicii, Chemical Brothers, Hot Chip etc. blended with classic electronic hits from the Safety dance to Burning Down the House, to Prince.... And of course, the Harlem Shake by Baauer had the floor jammed. :)
It was a night that was packed with music that was personal to Pat and Christina's tastes, and peppered with some of the all time greatest Oldies hits that their older guests loved.
Without a doubt, this is how it should be done. If you have specific music tastes, they should absolutely be honored, even showcased during your big day! It's YOUR big day!
Once again, another grand-slam wedding for the books. A big shout out to Pat & Christina for letting me be a part of it!
Until next time!
